I am in receipt of a letter of complaint, filed against you and Yeti Mechanical by the
owner of the above referenced address, Ms. Virginia Purvis. The complaint states that in
the fall of 2000, Yeti Mechanical_ did_ act_ as the- mechanical contractor for the installation
of an attic furnace at the referenced address. A review of the City's files show that no
permits have been issued to Yeti Mechanical for this address.
qu the invitation of Ms. Purvis, I had the opportunity to inspection the installation in
question. The following installation violations were noted:
• New supply and return registers were unsupported and not attached to the structure.
• Improper connections between duct and register.
• Flexible ductwork was improperly installed causing airflow restriction.
• Numerous openings into the supply air duct system.
• Numerous openings into the return air duct system.
• Opening in the return air trunk within 10 feet of the water heater draft diverter.
• Insufficient working clearance around the new attic furnace.
• Improperly supported venting system.
• No permits issued.
At this time_ 1- am- ordering that Yeti_ Mechanical apply for and obtain the required City
Permit for the installation of this furnace; make all necessary corrections to the
final mechanical inspection no later than June 30, 2001. installation identified above; clean all ductwork of insulation, and schedule with me a

Based on my inspection and the letter of complaint,_ I- find_ that Yet,_Mechanicai� acting as
the mechanical contractor for this project, did violate the Uniform Mechanical Code
Section 301.(a) "...no mechanical system regulated by this code shall be installed,
altered, repaired, replaced or remodeled unless a separate mechanical permit for each
separate building or structure has first been obtained from the building official."
I also charge that Yeti Mechanical did violate the City's Contractor licensin
specig ordinance,
fically:
Section 15-162(d)(1) Knowing and deliberate disregard of the Mechanical Code and
related manufacturer's installation specifications.
Section 15-162(d)(6) Failure to obtain required mechanical permit.
Section 15-162(d)(7) Commitment of any act of negligence, incompetence or misconduct
in the performance of the contractor's specific trade which results in posing a threat to
public health and safety.
At this time I am requesting that the Building Official of the City of Fort Collins review
this mattes with the possibility
license. that the Building Review Board review your contractor
Failure to comply with my orders stated above constitutes yet another violation to the
contractor licensing ordinance, resulting in a summons being issued to you to appear in
court.
