We have reviewed the garage door header sae and the columns beneath the roof beam
at the comer of the master bedroom on the second floor and at the family room on the
first floor as requested.
Based on the imposed loads and the 16' span it is our opinion the garage door header
may be (2)-1 314 x 140 LVL's instead of the W10 x 15 steel beam shown on the plan.
The column at the master bedroom should be a TS 3 x 3 x 114 as shown on the plan,
however the bottom plate may be a 5 x 5 x1/2 plate bearing on top of the LVL beam
below.
The column at the family room may be a 5-24 column instead of the TS 3 x 3 x 1l4
shown on the plan. The 5-24 column should be bolted together with two rows of 1/2
inch diameter bolts at 8' on center placed 1-1/2 inches from each edge.
