Re: 456 San Juan Drive
Provincetowne — 3`d Filing
Dear Jeff:
Total Engineering Service, Inc. (TES) conducted a foundation excavation review for a single-
family residence under construction at the above -referenced site located in Fort Collins,
Colorado.
The footings were excavated to a layer of moderately expansive sandy silty clay material,
which is similar to those soils described in the Final Geotechnical Exploration Report,
Provincetowne Subdivision, Third Filing, Phase 2, Fort Collins, Colorado, prepared by Total
Engineering Service, Inc. and dated August 8, 2012.
The footings need to be over excavated a minimum six feet (6') in depth. The expansive clay
soils should be replaced with well compacted structural fill. TES did not encounter
groundwater within three feet of the proposed footing elevation. The soils supporting the
footings will then be a low expansive material. Based on the soil conditions encountered
within three feet of the footing level, a continuous spread -footing may be designed and
constructed in accordance to the above mentioned Final Geotechnical Exploration Report.
Please contact me if you have any questions concerning this matter.
Sincerely,
TOTAL ENGINEERING SERVICE, INC.
