Eisenhower, Suite 230 Loveland, Colorado 80537 Project No.: 5575-05-79-03 Gentlemen: On November 14, 2005, a representative of Kiva Engineering, Inc. conducted visual spot observations of the drilling and installation of the ten (10) inch diameter piers for the new residence under construction at Lot 76, Registry Ridge 3rd,1327 Vinson Street, a subdivision of Fort Collins, Colorado. The purpose of these observations was to assure that the piers were drilled correctly for the subsurface conditions encountered and to assure that the piers were constructed according to the specifications on the foundation plan by Kiva Engineering, Inc., Job No. 5575-05-79-01. The pier drilling operations encountered silty claystone bedrock at depths of two (2) feet to three (3) feet below the base of various excavation levels. The piers were drilled a total minimum length of twenty (20) feet with a minimum bedrock embedment of ten (10) feet, whichever was greater. Groundwater levels were encountered in the borings at depths of seventeen (17) feet to twenty (20) feet below the excavation. Casing of the borings was not required. Concrete was being placed with a concrete pumper and reinforcing steel was being installed in each pier. As a result of our observations, it is our opinion that the construction of those piers observed were in general conformance with the plans and specifications. Eisenhower, Suite 230 Loveland, Colorado 80537 Project No.: 5575-05-79-05 Gentlemen: On November 29, 2005, a representative of Kiva Engineering, Inc. visually observed the perimeter drain system and damp -proofing for the new residence under construction at Lot 76, Registry Ridge 3rd, 1327 Vinson Street, a subdivision of Fort Collins, Colorado. We observed that the completed drain system consisted ofperforated rigid PVC pipe surrounded by gravel, overlying a plastic liner, set outside of the foundation walls. The drain appeared to be located below the top of pier level and is to discharge to an interior sump pit. We observed that the damp -proofing consisted of asphaltic spray -on coating. It appeared that the damp -proofing coating adequately covered the foundation wall. In addition we observed that the void forms for the foundation walls were intact. As a result of our observations, it is our opinion that the drainage system and damp -proofing were in general conformance with the plans and specifications.
