To whom It May Concern,
My first husband and I bought my home at 619 S. Grant in 1958. 1 raised four
children here and have been in this house for 39 plus years.
The house at 622 S. Grant was owned by Mrs. Audella Burnett until 1970. At
that time it was sold during an estate sale to Mr. and Mr. Balthazor. In 1975, they sold
the house to Mr. and Mrs. Wallace.
Mrs. Burnett, the original owner, was a widow. She always had male students
living in the basement apartment. They entered through the side entrance and had a
living area complete with bedrooms, bath, and a kitchen. She only had male renters
because she felt safer having men in the house. For this reason, I know the original
house contained an apartment with a separate entrance as did all of the other houses
in this area.
