The plans were reviewed to be incompliance with. the Rules and Regulations Governing the Health and Sanitation of Child Care Facilities in the State of Colorado. The plans are approved at this time. 1. It is acknowledged that the current remodel will include the following: a) Jungle Critters Toddler classroom will be remodeled for ten one -to -two year old toddlers. The toilet room for this classroom will be removed and a diapering station with one adult and one child height hand washing sink provided.. (Children older than two must have accessible toilet rooms as discussed with the Division of Child Care today.) b) The Ocean Critters classroom will be converted to an Infant room for eight infants. The toilet room will be removed from this classroom and afiood service area equipped with a hand washing sink and separate diapering area equipped with a hand washing sink will be provided. 2. Food service: It is acknowledged from discussion with Tara on February 5, 2008 and from plans that all Toddler room meals and snacks will be provided by the kitchen. The Infant classroom will be equipped with a refrigerator with freezer compartment for frozen formula or breast milk, microwave, crock pot for warming of bottles, cabinets, easily.cleanable surfaces, and a separate hand washing sink for food service. Please be advised that food service in infant room is limited to mixing of bottles, formulas and cereals; opening of commercially prepackaged baby foods, and non -potentially hazardous snacks; washing of produce is only permitted in the kitchen food preparation sink and all unconsumed leftovers will be discarded at the end of the day. 3. Please be advised if the food preparation hand sink is located next to food preparation surfaces, a barrier may be required to help prevent splash over from hand washing onto food and food preparation surfaces. 4. The locations of the hand washing sinks are approved as follows: . a) One adult hand washing sink at each of the diaper changing stations in the Toddler and Infant classrooms. b)� `A,separate hand washing sink in the food service area of the Infant c) One'child height hand washing sink in the Toddler room. 5. All hand'. sinks must=be supplied with hot and cold running water under pressure _supplied through a mixing valve, dispensed single use hand towels, and soap. 6. The plans include one additional hand washing sink which will not significantly change hot water demand for the building. The existing hot water system is approved'. 7. All serving dishes ,utensils, bottles, and food service equipment will be returned to the. kitchen .for ware washing before re -use. Bottles can be sent home with parents: 8. Bottled waterwill be 'provided in'the Toddler and Infant rooms as they are not equipped`with a,drinking fountain: as discussed with Tara on February 5, 2008. 9. 'Hard to•clean "spaces`or gaps around counters, utilities and plumbing must be elimiriated to'provide for easy cleaning. All cabinets or counters must be neatly sealed to adjoining walls. Areas that cannot be easily accessed for cleaning must closed off and neatly sealed. 10. Please be advised all plumbing, electrical conduit, and other service utility lines must be located behind walls, above finished ceilings or below floors in finished rooms and areas. Exposed water pipes, sewer lines, or electrical conduiti running along the surface of the walls, ceiling or floors are not approved. All drain lines,. water lines, and electrical conduit running along the walls in finished rooms must be boxed in or completely concealed along the wall to facilitate easy cleaning. 11. Please be advised at least 50 foot candles of light are required on all working surfaces and 20 foot candles.on all other -surfaces in all food preparation areas._ Lights in the Infant room food preparation. area must be shielded in an approved manner. An electrical plan was not provided and lighting requirements will be evaluated at time of inspection. 12. Finishes: Please be advised floors, walls, ceilings, counter tops, storage shelves, cabinets and all work surfaces, located within Infant food preparation area, diap&-chaonging areas, and around hand washings sinks must be of an approved rnaterial that is smooth, non -absorbent, easily cleanable and durable. a) A rp6int§ used on the walls must be washable, without removing the paint When cleaned.' Light-colored, high gloss paint is recommended. b) It is acknowledged the floor areas for food service area, diapering stations, and areas around hand sinks and extending out to half of classroom areas will be vinyl composite tile with concave vinyl rubber base cove as discussed with Matt Jardine on March 11, 2008. c) It is acknowledged that the center wall will be built out to a full wall and finished with painted drywall and finished with concave rubber vinyl base cove at floor wall junctures as discussed with Matt Jardine on March 11, d) It is'acknowle'dged that vinyl covered ceiling panels will be installed above the'food service area in the Infant room as discussed with Matt Jardine on 'March10'.2008. e)`,AII floor/walljunctures and cabinet'floorjunctures in the above listed areas ,,:must be provided with approved concave coving. Wood cove base is not approved in the food preparation area. f) ;Diaper changing area must be of sturdy construction with smooth, durable, ;nonabsorbent and easily cleanable surfaces. g)' A 'hand washing sink must be located adjacent to the diaper changing areas. h) The infant crib half wall will be installed with carpeting in the infant crib area. The walls must be easily cleanable with rubber vinyl base cove. 12. Toxic materials and surplus cleaning supplies must be stored away from food preparation and storage areas. Please designate an area separate and below food storage and food;;service items of Infant food cabinets that can be locked or inaccessible tb,dhildren:',' 13. Please be;advised that staff involved'in handling infants and changing diapers shall not be involved with preparing meals and snacks for children not in their group., 14. Infant.crib mattress covers must be of a smooth, durable, and easily cleanable design. (i.e., embossed patterns on vinyl mattress surfaces are not approved). 15. Construction activity must be conducted in a manner that does not create a health hazard, preferably when children are not present. Construction materials and tools must be removed when children are present to help prevent injury to children.while building is under construction. The plans.are approved at this time. Be advised approval of plans does not constitute acce.ptarice,of the completed structures. Inspections of the premises must be conducted by the department for approval of the remodeled structures prior to.changes in the child care classroom operation.
