On July 12, 2007 1 visited the referenced site as requested. The purpose of this visit was to
provide recommendations for supporting the bearing wall at the main level.
The structure is a two-story wood frame residence with a basement. It is estimated the house is
80 to 90 years old.
The wall in question is at the front room and runs east and west parallel to the main floor joists.
The wall supports a portion of the second floor.
Based on design loads it is recommended a (2)-1 1/4" X 7'/4" LVL be used under the bearing wall
flush in them main floor system. The beam should span approximately 12' from the west
foundation wall to the center bearing wall. Approximately 7' of the new beam will have a
bearing wall beneath. It is recommended an 8"x16" concrete footing with 244 continuous be
placed under the new wall.
