Observations indicated a 4" diameter perforated pipe had been placed around the exterior perimeter of the basement foundation and sloped to daylight to the west. Me drain pipe installation is in substantial accordance with the perimeter drain recommendations for the project. In addition, the exterior of the basement foundation walls had been damproofed. (EEC) personnel have completed an observation of the foundation bearing materials for footing foundations for the referenced project. The results of those observations along with site photos are included with this report. On November 11, 2004, EEC personnel observed foundation bearing materials for the referenced residence. We understand the residence will be a lightly loaded wood frame structure constructed on a full, walk -out basement_ At the time of our field observations, part of the building area had been excavated to approximate foundation -bearing elevation. Dark brown sandy clay with a slight amount of gravel was encountered at the near surface of the excavation. The dark brown sandy clay materials were underlain by reddish brown coarse sand and gravel with sandstone fragments at a depth of approximately 1 Y2 feet below present site grades. The reddish brown coarse sand and gravel extended to a depth of approximately 3'/z feet below present site grades and was underlain by olive/grey and rust claystone bedrock. The materials in the basement excavation area observed consisted of olive/grey and rust claystone bedrock. The materials observed in the excavation were generally consistent with those outlined in the soils report prepared by Earth Engineering Company, Inc., dated July 9, 2004. Based on the results of the outlined field observation, it is our opinion the proposed structure could be supported on drilled pier foundations per the recommendations in the above referenced soils report.
