Gentlemen:
we have observed the drilling of several of the ten (10) inch
diameter, straight shaft piers supporting the residence under
construction at -Lot 20, Huntington Hills Fifth Filing (6001
Huntington Hills Court), a subdivision of Fort Collins, Colorado.
This inspection was performed on October 3, 1996.
Exposed soils measured from original grade consist of eight (8)
feet of sandy clay over a sandy claystone bedrock which extends to
the depths drilled, approximately sixteen to twenty-seven (16 - 27)
feet.
All piers observed were plumb, properly cleaned and of adequate
length as specified on the foundation plan by Dana McBride and
reviewed by our office. water was encountered during drilling.
Therefore, we recommend concrete be placed immediately after
drilling of each individual caisson. Casing was not required.
