Per your request, we reviewed the structural requirements for cutting into the existing
garden -level basement wall in order to create an opening for a 4040 window for the
above referenced residence.
The existing concrete garden -level basement wall can be cut in order to create the
opening for the new 4040 window. The new window opening should not be located
underneath the support for the steel floor beam. An 18 inch minimum width of existing
concrete basement wall should be left intact underneath the support for the existing
steel floor beam. Based on the span and the imposed loads, a double (2) — 2x6 Hem -
Fir No. 2 header can be used for the wood window header for the new 4040 window.
The wood window header should be supported on a minimum of two (2) - 2x4
posts/blocks at each end of the header.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact us.
' 'Sincerely,
TERFUACON p00 Rts
