Our firm has made a structural design of a masonry lintel
and the roof system for an addition to the above -referenced
structure.
The roof should be supported with sixteen (16) inch TJI
at sixteen (16) inch o.c. with cross bracing (bridging)
at the one-third(1/3)'points. The span should not exceed
thirty-four (34) feet. These framing members shall be
manufactured by Trus Joist and shall be installed as per
their recommendations.
The masonry doorway lintel shall be a double -depth eight (8)
inch masonry bondbeam (16 inches deep) with two (2) No. 5 bars
continuous in the bottom of the beam and two (2) No. 4 bars
continuous in the top of the beam. This beam shall extend
a minimum of sixteen (16) inches over either support.
The bondbeam shall be slushed full with two thousand five
hundred (2500) pounds per square inch (minimum) grout.
The maximum clear span of the lintel shall be 10'-0 and it
is designed to support eighteen (18) feet of roof load.
A typical section,of this lintel is included on page 2.
