Mr. Junge stated that they were aware and respectful of code requirements but because of the ample setback and the uniqueness of the building, they needed to request the code variance. During the discussion on shake shingles, Mr. Waldo stated that he had contacted and received replies from seven front range jurisdictions. Some had adopted the code as we have it and Boulder is attempting to outlaw shakes altogether. Mr. Junge stated he felt because their building was broken up into one and two stories, they did meet the intent of the code as far as the fire protection goes. Mr. Brenner stated he did not see how the Board could negate the code by extending the area from 6,000,square feet. Mr. Hisam stated that the real danger was not from this particular building r a but from the building down the block catching fire the -fire building had 6,000 or 8,000 square feet of hhaxes ==e F not like it. After considerable discussion, MOTION MADE by Chuck Onstad to deny the request as the Board felt there was no hardship shown. SECONDED by Mike Keleher. MOTION TO DENY CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
