Project No. 20335
Dear Glen -
Weeks & Associates, Inc.
Structural Engineers
As requested we have sized the second floor support beams over the family room and study at
the referenced project. It is our opinion the flush beam at the entry to the study spanning
approximately 4'-6" should be (2) 2x10, supported on a 4x4 post at the south end, and 2-2x4
studs at the north end located in the wall. The flush beam over the family room at the hall
spanning approximately 6'-0" should be (3) 2x10 or (2) 1-3/4"x9-1t4" LVL. This beam should be
supported on a 4x4 post at the south end, and 3-2x4 studs at the north end located in the wall.
The north end of the existing (4) 1-3/4"x9-1/4" LVL beam over the family room should be
supported on 2-4x4 posts. Solid blocking should be provided beneath all col
below or the posts should be extended through the floor to the beam, umns to the beam
If we can be of further assistance please contact us.
Sincerely,
Weeks & Associates, Inc.
