Dear Greg,
As per your request, an inspection was performed on February
4, 1992 for the Lamplighter Motel at 1809 0,College Ave. Ft.
Collins, Larimer County, Colorado, to design a window header and
supports to carry the roof load off the concrete block wall.
The new window will be installed in the new proposed two
bedroom apartment, the proposed window size is 33"x73", the
window location is in the South wall, which is a bearing wall,
carrying a part of the roof, the roof spans 15 feet, plus 2 feet
over -hang and another 2 feet span in the hall -way.
The header size should be at least 3-2x6 or 5-2x4, the
support on both sides of the header should be at least 3-2x4 on
each side of the header. All wood material should be Him -Fur No.
1 or better.
The roof need to be supported during construction, the
bottom 3 concrete blocks holes should be filled with concrete, to
provide a smooth solid base for the roof supports and for the
window frame.
