The soil exposed at the upper and lower footing levels consisted of sandy lean clay. These materials are similar to those encountered by Northern Colorado Geotech during our subsurface exploration at the site (Project No. 048-07, dated May 4, 2007). Based on our observations and the recommendations of the geotechnical engineering report, it is our opinion that the proposed residence may be supported by a spread footing foundation system. The foundation should be designed in accordance with the recommendations and specifications provided in the geotechnical engineering report. Groundwater or bedrock was not encountered within two feet of the lower footing level. However, as a precaution, we recommend the installation of an exterior perimeter drain around the lower level of the structure. The dewatering system should be constructed in accordance with recommendations of the geotechnical engineering report.
