This letter is accompanying the 50% design plans for Buckingham Street from lst Street
to 3`d Street. The original design plans for this section of Buckingham Street that were
submitted (but not approved) with the New Belgium Brewery Canning Hall indicated that
the detention for this portion of Buckingham would be provided at the southwest corner
of the intersection of Buckingham and I't Street. This detention required a complex storm
piping design and rerouting of site runoff which was determined to be undesirable and
not cost effective.
With this redesign, the proposal is to route runoff from the north half of this portion of
Buckingham to the existing detention pond located south of the Canning Hall. This pond
currently has sufficient capacity to accommodate runoff from the existing development
on site and this portion of Buckingham. Calculations to support this will be provided
with the next submittal. This pond also provides water quality extended detention with
the outlet structure that exists at the pond outfall.
We continue to consider additional water quality measures that may be located within the
parkway adjacent to this portion of Buckingham Street. If these measures are desired and
are able to be implemented with the existing grades on site, they will be designed and
shown on the 90% street design submittal.
