AUGUST 17, 1990 STEWAKr&ASSOCIATES Consulting Engineers and Surveyors August 17, 1990 Mr. Glen Schlueter Storm Drainage Utility City of Fort Collins P.O. Box 580 Fort Collins, Colorado 80522 Dear Glen: This is the storm drainage report for Fire Station No. 2 located at 415 South Bryan Avenue, Fort Collins, Colorado. The site contains 0.3148 acres and is situate in the Canal Importation Basin. The site lies immediately West of the Larimer County Canal No. 2 and Sheldon Lake. - The site has an existing fire station which is proposed to have some additional space added and two parking spaces added. The impervious area will be increased by 0.03 acres which is a 9.7% increase. The existing site has offsite storm water from the existing Forestry and Parks Maintenance Building flowing around the Fire Station No. 2. The offsite flows and the fire station's runoff flow Easterly to the Bryan Avenue West curb and gutter and then to the existing inlet just North of the fire station driveway. The area inlet catches the runoff in the gutter, and then the runoff flows Easterly across Bryan Avenue in a 12—inch concrete pipe and discharges into the Larimer County No. 2Canal. The two—year frequency storm would develop 0.07 c.f.s. more runoff after the addition is completed, and the ten—year and one hundred —year storms would develop 0.14 c.f.s. and 0.29 c.f.s. more runoff respectfully. The existing site and the existing neighborhood do not have onsite detention. Storm water detention will be provided for the 1760 square feet of new impervious area. The volume required to detain the difference between the two year historic runoff and the 100 year developed runoff is 270 cubic feet. Detention of 490 cubic feet will be provided in the Northeast corner of the site by constructing a berm to detain the runoff. The discharge will be metered by using a 22 inch diameter outlet pipe through the berm. A spillway will be constructed in the berm to limit the highwater line to one foot below the existing floor elevation. The building roof has -a ridge line running East to West, therefore, the North half of the building will drain to the detention pond. If you have any questions regarding this request, please call. The runoff calculations and a copy of the topographic survey are enclosed as a part of this.. report. Sincerely, Richard A. Rutherford, P.E. & L.S. President lkk James H.
