RE: Parking Lot Drainage and Roof Drain Re-routing at Faith Evangelical Free
Church
Dear Mr. Barber,
This letter is written as a follow-up to the letter report dated November 16, 2004
(approved November 22, 2004), and is intended to document further improvements
made to the Church site.
The November letter noted a condition at the northwest entrance whereas flows
from the trickle pan entered Wabash street instead of flowing east across the
Church parking lot. A cross -pan was created at the northwest entrance to the
parking lot such that flows from the trickle pan remain on -site (see attached photo,
and as -built survey).
The roof drains from the west side of the building drain into the above mentioned
trickle pan. Although design conditions provided for overland flow of the roof
drains, this created standing water and soft conditions in the amphitheater lawn
and the associated maintenance issues. The attached sketch shows the location and
size of additional pipe placed to allow the roof drain flows to be conveyed more
efficiently to the trickle pan, eliminating standing water and soft conditions in the
amphitheater.

At the time the cross -pan was surveyed, shots were also obtained for the high point
at the east side of the parking lot, adjacent to the detention pond. This area was
found to have been constructed to an elevation of 5075.80, 0.2 feet below the
design elevation of 5076.00. As stated in the November letter report, the
additional riprap in the detention facility creates a rise in the 100-year WSEL of
0.08 feet. With the high point in the parking area constructed -low, the net
difference in existing elevation and the necessary elevation to contain 100-year
flows is 0.28 feet (5076.08 - 5075.80). A 4-inch high asphalt overlay was placed
across the parking area high point to raise this area to an acceptable elevation (see
attached photo).
