Research Center Building B— Detention and Water Quality Pond
JR Engineering (JR) surveyed the existing detention pond and water quality structure for the Natural
Resources Research Center for Building B located east of Centre Avenue along the southern edge of the
Sherwood Lateral and just west of the Burlington Northern Railroad, on May 29, 2002. In addition, the
facilities were reviewed in the field by Amber Reed of JR on May 30, 2002. As a result of those
inspections we offer the following for review and comment.
These comments are based on a set of approved engineering plans by S.A. Miro of Fort Collins,
Colorado, dated March 26, 2001 and approved by the City of Fort Collins on April 6, 2001. The required
detention volume for the pond was obtained from Terry Everitt of SA Miro via verbal direction on May
10, 2002.
The detention pond has been excavated to provide total detention volume of 1.88 acre-feet, (95% of
designed volume of 1.99 acre-feet).
The water quality outlet structure is a concrete weir with an orifice plate. The location and pattern of
orifices are found on the structure per design plans.
This letter certifies that the improvements have been constructed in general conformance with the design
identified in paragraph two of this letter. Attached you will find, copy of approved pond design, record
contour drawings and stage -storage calculations for the pond.
