Dear Jay:
Centerline Layout Services provided JR Engineering survey information of the existing
storm drainage facilities for the Hercules Expansion on September 7, 2000 and
September 26, 2000. In addition, facilities were reviewed in the field by Michael
Oberlander on September 20, 2000 and September 29, 2000. As a result of these items,
we offer the following for your review and comment.
1. The sidewalk culverts on the west side of the building are in general conformance to
the approved plans. The upstream ends of the culverts will have their openings
cleared of the landscape rock.
2. The curb cuts in the south parking area are in general conformance to the approved
plans.
3. The parking and yard areas drain in general conformance with the approved plans.
The southwest corner of the yard area (concrete) has a ponding area that will be
repaired.
4. Riprap appears to have been placed in general conformance with the approved plans.
5. Both detention ponds meet the detention and water quality volume required in the
approved plans and drainage report. See redlined drainage plans and volume
calculations for details. The trickle pans shown in the ponds appear to be in general
conformance with the approved plans. Both spillways require some fine grading to
be in general conformance with the approved plan.
6. All drainage pipe has'been constructed in general conformance with the approved
plans. See redline plans for more information. The orifice plate at the outlet of Pond
A will either be moved to the joint between the FES and the first pipe length, or grout
will be installed between the edge of the FES and the orifice plate to make the orifice
work properly. The orifice plate that was mistakenly installed on the downstream end
of this pipe will be removed.
7. The water quality structure has been constructed in general conformance to the
approved plans. It will be modified slightly to cover the opening that exists between

the water quality plates and the overflow grate. This modification will not change the
operation of the structure.
This letter certifies that the items listed above are in general conformance with the
approved plans. It is my understanding that all items requiring minor adjustment will be
completed within the next two weeks.
