Dear Basil:,
Re: Rocky Mountain Battery Recycling P.U.D:.
1475 North College Avenue
At the request of Cottier Construction, Inc., we have surveyed the as built elevations and
inspected the construction of drainage facilities at the newly constructed recycle facility.
The pavement was not installed east of the building, and gravel surfacing was used instead.
The gravel surface is installed all around the building and is extended further to the west than
originally planned. This property to the west is also owned by the recycle company. The sheet flow
from the west will be turned to the south by the gravel surfacing which is 5 to 6 inches higher than
the existing ground. This offsite flow was to be dissipated by rip rap at the south end of the gravel
surface. The rip rap is not installed, but there is heavy vegetation in the flow path which will dissipate
and spread the flow.
The top elevation of the detention is 76.22 instead of the planned 76.50, but the volume in
the pond is about the same as planned and considerably more than required. There is no headwall
over the entrance to the pond outlet pipe, but the pipe inlet is located in a landscaping area covered
with 1'/z inch rock and it appears the headwall is not necessary. There is also 1'/z inch rock instead
of rip rap at the northeast comer of the site where the offsite flow enters from Front Range Steel.
The rock should dissipate this small amount of flow, so I believe the rip rap isn't necessary.
The contractor has deviated from the plan in several instances, but he has provided the
required detention and release, and it appears the as built drainage facilities will provide the desired
results.
I have attached a red lined print showing the results of the survey and inspection.
Sincerely,
e `4L:. sae; •,
