Drainage Certification
Dear Jay:
J•R ENGINEERING
A Westrlan Company
The purpose of this letter is to acknowledge that the elevations and drainage patterns of
the site as measured are in general conformance with the City approved drainage plan
with the exception of an area of ponding in the southeast comer of the site.
We have reviewed the available as -built information and visited the site to review this
ponding issue. It appears the sidewalk was constructed with a cross slope in reverse of
that depicted on the approved plans. The intent of the original design was a sidewalk that
slopes north to south with runoff traveling along the south edge of the sidewalk to a low
area with an inlet located at the southeast corner of the subject site. The sidewalk was
constructed sloping in the opposite direction, south to north. This coupled with the
eastern portion of the sidewalk being constructed at a higher elevation then designed has
created an area of ponding.
A Swale has been proposed as the best correction for this drainage issue. The center of
the Swale will be located in the landscape area to the north and parallel the walk and will
lead to a sidewalk chase that will direct runoff to the aforementioned inlet. The
surrounding area will be re -graded to provide positive drainage to the swale. This design
will minimize the amount of runoff traveling along the sidewalk and will alleviate the
current ponding issue.
At this time the contractor is finalizing the aforementioned improvements.
