Dear Basil,
On April 22 and May 7, 1996 Ayres Associates surveyed the dimensions and elevations of
storm drainage features for the above referenced project. This letter summarizes our findings.
Enclosed is a copy of the grading and drainage plan with as -built elevations and dimensions
presented in red ink. Additionally, the as -built contours in the detention area are shown.
The as -built measurements and elevations are very close to design values. There are no .
locations where as -built elevations differ from design elevations sufficiently to change the
drainage patterns from the intended ones. In the detention pond area the as -built contours fall
almost directly on top of the design contours, as shown on the attached grading plan.
The only area of significant deviation from the design occurs in the riprap area near the
southeast corner of the project. The original design called for a grouted Class 6 riprap swale.
The as -built Swale is not grouted but is constructed of Class 12 riprap and extends south to the
Men's Wearhouse detention area overflow section, presumably to convey overflows to the
irrigation canal. The Class 12 riprap should be an acceptable replacement for the grouted
Class 6 riprap.
We find that the as -built features accurately reflect the original design and recommend
acceptance by Stormwater Utility of the storm drainage facilities. Please call me if you need
