We have surveyed the elevations of the parking lot detention ponding area and found it to be constructed substantially per the approved plan. The surveyed elevations are shown in red on the attached print. The area inlet and outlet pipe through a sidewalk. culvert into the west gutter of South Mason Street have been installed. The 2.8 inch diameter restricted opening has been installed over the outlet pipe. Ayres Associates did the construction surveying for this project, and when it come time to certify the pond volume, they calculated that the volume of the pond on the approved plan was only 2800 cubic feet instead of the necessary 4500 cubic feet. While I was discussing this with Brian Nelson at Ayres, he discovered that his planimeter was giving him incorrect areas, and that the true volume was much closer to the 4500 cubic feet. I have attached a copy of the planned ponding area on which is shown my planimetered areas and volume calculation. Also attached is a copy of the original calculation.
