Bracke, Transportation Planner 11 , SUBJECT: PRA SOUTH BUS TERMINAL PLAN ,AA13 1991 I have reviewed the plan submittal for the above -stated project and have some concerns that need to be passed through to Larimer County. On page two (2) of the Project Narrative, the statement 'With planned street upgrades and traffic light modifications, access for the 25 to 30 buses and related traffic should be adequate.' The only modification currently being planned for the traffic signal is a controller change sometime in 1993. The modification to the signal will allow the City to control the signal from our master computer system. I am not aware of any other planned modifications to the traffic signal and this modification will not affect access on Sky . Please let me know if the school district has been misinformed about future signal modifications. WAY Also concerning the traffic signal, I am of the opinion that an eastbound left turn lane on Skyuew IqAY e negd to be constructed in conjunction with this project. Although I have not measured the width of Sky it would appear that additional width and increased turning radius for the west leg of the intersection may be necessary. The pavement on Skywew appears to be substandard and is in need of repair. Construction activity and the additional bus traffic will accelerate the deterioration of the pavement. You may want to discuss the pavement issue and the turning radius issue with Mike Herzig. I do not believe that the proposed gravel drive and parking areas of the project are appropriate -for -an urban setting. On wet days, buses will carry the dirt and gravel onto the street system. On dry days, increased dust and particulates will be emitted into the air. You may wish to discuss this issue with Brian Woodruff from Natural Resources. Please let me know if you have any questions concerning these comments.
