Stuart St. Existing Tree Removal Feasibility Letter 8/12/21 Serdar Badem/GMR LA The above referenced site is being redeveloped from a previous day care facility to a multi-family residence. Based on the limited pedestrian, vehicular access and site setback areas within the site; a series of existing trees on the north and eastern portions of the site are identified for removal. The removal of the identified trees will provide for required access, drainage and landscape setbacks while preserving significant canopy on the western portion of the site. The following description identifies trees being retained and removed on site and aligns with the Tree Mitigation Plan dated August 12, 2021 provided for resubmittal. Tree #1, Honeylocust, 37, Fair Tree is to remain to provide significant canopy on western portion of the site. Tree #2, Honeylocust, 20, Fair Plus Tree is to remain to provide significant canopy on western portion of the site. Tree #3, Honeylocust, 22, Fair Tree is to remain to provide significant canopy on western portion of the site. Tree #4, Crabapple, 14, Fair Plus Tree is being removed to provide vehicular access, parking and landscape setback at northern portion of the site. Tree #5, Honeylocust, 25, Fair Minus Tree is being removed to provide vehicular access, parking and landscape setback at northern eastern portion of the site. Tree #6, Siberian Elm, 16, Poor Tree is being removed to provide vehicular access and landscape setbacks at eastern portion of the site. Tree #7, Siberian Elm, 20, Dead Tree is being removed to provide vehicular access and landscape setbacks at eastern portion of the site. Tree #8, Siberian Elm, 5/4/3, Fair Tree is being removed to provide vehicular access and landscape setbacks at eastern portion of the site. Tree #9, Green Ash, 29, Fair Tree is offsite and will not be removed. Tree #10, Green Ash, 23, Fair Tree is offsite and will not be removed. Variance From Code For Required Plantings Based on the limited pedestrian, vehicular access and site setback areas within the site; limited areas remain for required landscape and buffer plantings. As the vehicular access drive has been relocated to the east to retain western canopy trees, the remaining landscape area does not provide ample room to plant shade trees to meet the 50% requirement. The remaining limited areas on the northern (3’) and eastern (5’) property line have been densely planted to best accommodate tree plantings. This justification shall serve as a variance request from code for required shade tree plantings.
