I wanted to update you on the Autawash discussion. I met with Kathleen and Dave this morning after Dev.
Review to discuss the concerns and new information brought to light by the owner/developer and architect
of the project (reference my prior e-mail to Paul Eckman which I cc'd you). We tried to find you to include
you but you were hiding.
After presenting this information to KR and DS, we are in agreement that
1) The west side sidewalk should not be eliminated completely, but instead should stop at the steps which
connect to the Auto Zone site to the west. An architectural gate treatment would function to keep ped's
from traveling into the high traffic parking lot area of Autawash.
2) As a result of 1), the east -west ped. connections called for internal to the site parking area are not
necessary.
3) We were in agreement that the sidewalk on the west side of the lube building should remain. The
developer wants to eliminate it due to constrained width of the lube building. This would force ped's using
the path to enter the lube building on the south side and exit the lube building on the north side in order to
rejoin the ped. marking path into the main building. Barry will likely have heartburn over this, but we stand
by our comments.
I have a copy of the proposed blueprint from the developer for your records. I will contact Barry and his
architect today or tomorrow to inform them of our discussions. Let me know if you want to get together to
discuss these items.
