Dear Mr. and Mrs. Stout,
Thank you for your recent letter expressing your concerns with the Galatia
Annexation and Zoning proposal. The City Council has been asked to delay their
review the annexation and requested zonings until the December 17 meeting.
The City shares your concerns that ultimate development of this property must not
be detrimental to surrounding properties and uses. The Planning and Zoning
Board has recommended that the Council place a Planned Unit Development (PUD)
condition on the zonings of the Galatia Annexation. If the Council follows that
recommendation, all development proposals would be required to be evaluated
according to the criteria contained in the City's LAND DEVELOPMENT GUID-
ANCE SYSTEM. The LDGS development review process assures active citizen par-
ticipation in the review of development proposals.
I have also. asked the planning staff to present some zoning options for the
Council to consider, which would be used to promote compatibility of new uses on
the Galatia site with adjacent existing uses and properties, should the Council
decide not to follow the Planning and Zoning Board's PUD zoning recommend-
ation.
If you have further comments or concerns regarding the Galatia Annexation,
please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Susan E. Kirkpatrick
Mayor
