The project will necessarily include some minor wetland impacts north and south of the current facility, and mitigation for these impacts is planned in accordance with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and City of Fort Collins requirements. Two U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) listed threatened species are of concern when dealing with wetland impacts in the City, the Ute ladies' tresses orchid (Spiranthes diluvialis), and the Preble's meadow jumping mouse (Zapus hudsonius preblei). Surveys for both of these species have been conducted at the site of the proposed work by USFWS qualified individuals. These surveys are in accordance with USFWS guidelines. Neither species was found. In the case of the Preble's meadow jumping mouse, over 600 trap nights have been recorded with negative results. Reports of the surveys are currently being prepared, and will be submitted to USFWS within the next two weeks. If further information is required, or if there are questions about the surveys, I can be reached at (970) 224-6063. Sincerely, Robert T.
