Due to prior commitments, I will be unable to attend the
public hearing regarding the proposed construction project
referenced above.
As a resident of the 500 block of north Grant, I share my
neighbor's concerns that the expanded parking lot facility
will introduce unwanted traffic onto our street. We residents
of this end of Grant are blessed with minimal through'traffic,
owing to the fact that Grant is not a through street past Elm.
Increased traffic on residential streets degrades neighborhoods.
Allowing vehicles to enter and exit this new parking lot off
Elm will certainly have a negative impact on the relative
tranquility we now enjoy at the end of Grant. Furthermore,
the neighborhood at large will likely experience increased traffic
flows if this new parking lot is open from Elm.
I am asking that the Planning and Zoning Board delay a decision
allowing the city to go forward with this project until
alternative design/engineering proposals are reviewed. There must
be a way to preserve the limited traffic flow through our
neighborhood without jeopardizeing the needs of a well -planned
parking lot.
Thank you or your consideration
