RE: Coralie Jacobs, Wonderland Daycare at 3018 Calvary Court
Dear Mr. Olt:
It has come to our attention that there are discrepancies over the
rezoning of Mrs. Jacobs daycare facility.
I have had my three year old daughter, Megan, at Mrs. Jacobs home since I
started working full time in October of 1989. Quality daycare in the
City of Fort Collins is very hard to find. I interviewed a total of five
daycare facilities when trying to locate the appropriate one for my
daughter. I was faced with seeing children out of control, lacking
activity, lacking one on one attention and seeing children in a
"babysitting" type atmosphere where boredom was very obvious. Mrs.
Jacobs has a very high quality of care at her home and she spends her
entire day with the children. They have a schedule that they follow
every day that involves projects, singing, dancing, outdoor activity,
naptime and most of all educational and stimulating social interacting
with each other. Mrs. Jacobs is also a Christian which makes her program
even more superior.
We live north of Fort Collins near Waverly and my place of employment is
on the Foothills Campus. It takes me 45 minutes from the time I leave my
home until I reach my office. The reason for that is so that Megan can
be at Mrs. Jacobs home receiving the care and loving attention that all
our children need. It is a 22 mile trip morning and night for me but I
have never hesitated once because Mrs. Jacobs gives the care that I would
give at home and she is emotionally involved with the children and treats
each and every one like her own.
The behavior of the children is monitored at all times and Mrs. Jacobs
never lets the children get out of control and she never lets them "run
wild and scream". Have any of your children ever played
ring-around-the-rosey or London bridges and laughed and played in your
backyard. It.is all "child -play" and on top of that it is "healthy
Mrs. Jacobs home is in a very unique location. She is bordered by
Swallow Road on the south, an irrigation. canal on the east and one very
supportive neighbor on.the North. We support her 100% in trying to
expand her facility. If all the daycare homes (and commercial
facilities) in the City were as thorough and dedicated as Mrs. Jacobs
home is, our City would have a terrific reputation for childcare.
