Dear Les:
As I mentioned to you at the close of the neighborhood meeting on Thursday,
November 15th, I strongly believe that a dialogue begin with the representatives
of the Landmark Preservation Commission. My experience is that if a dialogue
does not occur, then you risk a very adversarial public hearing with the Planning
and Zoning Board. It is far better to attempt to resolve conflict outside the
formal public hearing process than in front of the P & Z Board.
I have discussed this idea with Carol Tunner, City of Fort Collins Historic
Specialist. Carol is the staff representative to the City's Landmark
Preservation Commission. She suggested that we arrange a meeting with yourself,
Al Hauser, and the chairman, and the vice chairman of the L.P.C. The chairman
is Mrs. Reba Massey and the vice chairman is Mr. Bud Frick.
With the Thanksgiving holiday, I suggest that we meet sometime during the week
of November 26th. By meeting and discussing all the historic issues, your
proposal has a better chance of being judged on its merits and not vulnerable to
the accusation that your organization is insensitive.
Please let me know if any particular day during the week of November 26th works
best for you. I will - stay in touch with Carol Tunner to coordinate the exact
time, date, and location. As always, please call if there are any questions.
Sincerely:
Ted Shepard
