The project will be a new United States Postal Service facility. The site is bounded by Boardwalk Drive on the north, J.F.K Parkway on the west, and Troutman Parkway on the south and contains 9.6 acres. The full service facility will consist of one building totalling 43,460 square feet. The operations will include mail processing, counter service, lock boxes, and distribution for mail carriers for south Fort Collins. The United States Postal Service is part of the executive branch of the government of the United States. As such, the City of Fort Collins does not have the authority to regulate the Postal Service under the zoning code. In Fort Collins, however, there is a tradition of cooperation between developers and neighborhoods. It is the desire of the Postal Service to meet with the Landings Community Association to discuss issues of concern relating to the new facility. While it is acknowledged that the U.S.P.S. is immune from the zoning code, an informal meeting, prior to construction, is anticipated to benefit all parties involved. The mailing list for this meeting was derived from the records of the Landings Community Association. If you know of any citizens who may wish to attend, but may not be on the mailing list, please feel free to notify them so all interested citizens may have an opportunity to attend. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please call our office at 221-6750.
