Box 22026 Denver CO. 80222 Dear Mr. Nelson: City staff has reviewed sheets L1, L2, L31 L41 A19 A2, and A2B, of the proposed Aspen Station, U.S.P.0, Fort Collins, Colorado, and offers the following comments: 1. The transformer is located in the employee parking lot. This lot is fenced and will be locked after hours. This location would make it difficult for Light and Power to access this transformer when the facility is closed. The problem is, in case of an electrical outage, Light and Power would not be able to restore power to the Post Office without contacting someone to unlock the access to the parking lot. An alternate location for the transformer would be next to the customer parking directly to the north. The transformer could be screened from public view by a three sided enclosure with a gate. Access from one side should be by hard surface that is free of customer parking. 2. The Public Service gas line will most likely be in an eight foot underground utility easement on the east side of J.F.K. Parkway. Trees should be_kept__four feet away from the line, where possible. 3. The Ponderosa Pines should be replaced by Austrian Pines. 4. The City Forester recommends that substitutes be found for the White Fir and the Mountain Ash. 5. In several locations, (Green Ash) are shown only 15 feet apart. This seems very close when there is opportunity to spread out to allow greater separation. It is recommended that these trees be separated by a distance of 25 feet. 6. Pines that are used in several parking lot locations may outgrow their space. Perhaps deciduous shade trees could be used in parking lot situations and pines be placed in areas where larger spacing permits. 7. Have you considered spacing deciduous street trees along Boardwalk Drive? With the grade slightly higher, and the direct view to the front of the customer entry, this area would greatly benefit from additional street trees. 281 North College Avenue • P.O.
