Mr. James McMullen
c/o U. S. Postal Service
301 South Howes Street
Fort Collins, CO 80521
Dear Postmaster McMullen,
I am terribly disappointed that you and other representatives from
the Postal Service were unable to find time to discuss several
significant impacts of the new "Aspen Station" facility on the
adjacent single and multi -family neighborhood in Fort Collins.
Although we are happy to have the new facility under construction
for the benefit of our citizens, we believe the impact of a chain -
link, barbed wire topped fence and the associated limited
landscaping will be detrimental to the neighborhood. Your refusal,
as a federal official, to schedule a meeting to discuss the
possibilities of making some minor changes to the facility to
accommodate neighborhood concerns is quite puzzling.
We hope you, as Postmaster, will reconsider your decision and,
instead, will work with the community to make the new building a
focal point, rather than an insensitive intrusion in the fabric of
south Fort Collins.
Sincerely,
David Edwards
City Council Member
