Root Condition;
Inspection of root system based on visual inspection show signs of Root Flare and
Root Rot in certain locations.
Overall Condition:
After a through inspection on the Roots, Trunk and Crown of the Cottonwood Tree my
findings are as follows.
The crown of tree has failed multiple times dropping large and small
leaders/branches, there has also been a lightning strike that has resulted in cavities
along the crack where the lightning hit along the trunk of the tree weakening the tree.
There is also a large cavity where it looks like the other half of the tree would have
been but is no longer there due to failure which has overtime continued to rot the
heartwood of the tree continuing to stress and allow wood boring insects within.
Recommendations;
Due to the nature of this tree and past occurrences that have already happened it
would be in the best interest to the public safety to have this tree removed based on
the amount of Rot and the likely hood of failure, weak areas of the tree and the loss
of support.
