MEMORANDUM
June 25, 1991
Dear Prospective Fort Collins Resident:
When your property is annexed into the City and you become a
resident of Fort Collins, you will begin receiving a monthly
utility bill for stormwater fees. Whether or not you have any
other city utilities, such as electricity, water, and/or sewer, you
will receive the monthly bill for stormwater O&M and stormwater
IMP.
There are several reasons for the stormwater fees:
[1] Stormwater O&M is collected and used to maintain and
repair the various drainage facilities throughout the city, such as
detention ponds, channels, bridges, inlets, catch basins, curb and
gutter, and underground storm sewers.
[2] Stormwater IMP is specific to the area where your property
is located and the fee is used to design and construct the
improvements necessary to protect your property from the 100-year
flood.
The fees are calculated by using your lot size; the amount of area
covered by impervious surfaces such as house, driveway, patio,
garage, sidewalks; and, the current cost per square foot for O&M
and IMP. A typical single family home with a 6,000 square foot lot
will pay $3.80 per month in 1992.
