March 18, 1992
Dear Resident:
on Wednesday, April 1,1992, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., at the Linton Elementary
School, 4100 Caribou Drive, the City of Fort Collins Planning Department will
hold a neighborhood information meeting to discuss the development of the New
Fort Collins High School.
The Poudre R-1 School District is proposing to construct a replacement for the
existing Fort Collins High School. The new school is proposed to be located on
62 acres within an area generally defined as the northeast corner of Timberline
Road and Horsetooth Road. This area is also know as the Pine Cone Farm Master
Plan. The new school would be built to handle a capacity of 1,800 students. The
new school would measure about 285,000 square feet and include a tower as a focal
point at the main entry.
The City of Fort Collins Planning Department is interested in holding this
information meeting to discuss the potential impacts of the development proposal
on the surrounding neighborhoods (Meadows East, Sunstone Village, and Fox
Meadows). Since the School District's request will be considered by the City
Planning and Zoning Board as an "Advisory Review", the Planning Department is
interested in hearing the concerns of the surrounding residents.
The City Planning and Zoning Board is empowered to consider the location,
character, and development related issues associated with the new school.
Questions regarding enrollment size, boundary area, curriculum, courses, student -
teacher ratios, or other educational services are best directed toward the
Poudre R-1 Central Area Administrator since theses are not development related
issues.
It is anticipated that the Planning and Zoning Board meeting will be April 27,
1992. After consideration by the Planning and Zoning Board, the proposal will
be considered by the Poudre R-1 School District Board of Education for final
action.
Both the Planning and Zoning Board and the City Planning Staff consider your
input on this matter, as well as your neighbor's input, an extremely important
element in the City's review of this proposal. If you are unable to attend the
public hearing, written comments are welcome.
This letter has been sent as a courtesy to all property owners of record within
the three affected neighborhoods based on current County Assessor's records.
