HomeMy WebLinkAboutLAUREL SCHOOL DEMOLITION AND RECONSTRUCTION ADVISORY REVIEW - 59 91 - CORRESPONDENCE - RESPONSE TO APPLICANTDevelopr it Services Planning Department City of Fort Collins February 25, 1992 Mr. Michael Spearnak Facilities Services Department Poudre School District R-1 2407 LaPorte Avenue Fort Collins, CO. 80525 RE: New Laurel Elementary School Dear Mr. Spearnak: On Monday, February 24, 1992, at their regular meeting, the City of Fort Collins Planning and Zoning Board voted to advise the Poudre School District R-1 that the location, character, and extent of the proposed New Laurel Elementary School is appropriate. The proposed New Laurel School is found to be in compliance with the Master Plan for the City of Fort Collins. The approval was by a unanimous vote of four to zero. The Site Plan approved is designated as Schematic Plan "B-211. This plan meets the objectives of providing landscaping and buffering the existing homes on Colorado Street. In addition, since Laurel Street is not the primary access, sidewalks on both sides of Laurel Street, from Stover Street on the west to the Laurel Street access on the east, will not be required as part of this Site Plan Advisory Review. The Planning and Zoning Board recognized that there are neighborhood compatibility issues that are beyond the immediate control of the Poudre School District. It is advised, therefore, that the Facilities Services Department - of- the. -Poudre R-1 School Dpar District continue to work with the City of Fort Collins etments of Planning, Transportation, Engineering, and Parks and Recreation, the .Poudre Valley Hospital, and the neighboring residents on locational and transportation issues relating to the future neighborhood park, the Laurel Street to Pennock Place connection, and the parking lot for the Family Care Center.
