RE: Mountain Ridge Farm Cottonwood
SO -
Some months ago I reviewed the condition of two large Plains Cottonwoods at Mountain Ridge
Farms west of Wabash and east of the Cottonwood Grove known as Apache Forest. Recently,
I have reinspected these trees.
Unfortunately, the condition of these two Cottonwoods restricts the value of retaining them in
the residential development. Both trees are beginning to decline and would be damaged
significantly with any construction change to the root zone. The east tree was recently burned
and a large wound to the bark and root flare has resulted. The west tree has a large cavity and
a major lightning strike wound.
Due to the hazardous and declining condition of these two trees, it is not in the best interest of
future home owners to preserve these trees.
