Recently, I have reinspected these trees. Unfortunately, the condition of these two Cottonwoods restricts the value of retaining them in the residential development. Both trees are beginning to decline and would be damaged significantly with any construction change to the root zone. The east tree was recently burned and a large wound to the bark and root flare has resulted. The west tree has a large cavity and a major lightning strike wound.
