cludes building a 48,000-square-
foot store on vacant land next to
the 4040 S. College Ave. store.
The existing store would be de-
molished for a parking lot.
Minnesota -based `Best Buy,
which has 332 stores in 36 states,
recently launched a campaign to
update stores nationwide. That
means more space for more and
larger products. -
According to retail analysts,
Best Buy is anticipating demand
for innovative new products,
such as Web television, digital
cameras and digital video disk
technology.
"The existing store (28,000
square feet) is too small for their
planned prototypes," said Arnel
Ryan of MBH Architects in
Alameda, Calif
The new prototype, which Best
Buy calls "Concept 4," includes
interactive displays that•, allow. -
customers to try out products, mi

The project would require ap-
