Fossil Creek Self Storage
College Avenue and Fossil Creek Parkway
Fort Collins, Colorado
CTL|T Project Number: FC09234-125
CTL|Thompson, Inc. was contracted to provide a subsurface investigation
consisting of four borings within the eastern portion of the proposed self-storage site.
The purpose of the investigation was to determine soil types, depth to bedrock and
depth to groundwater at each location shown on Figure 1. Boring locations were
provided by the client.
Subsurface conditions encountered in our borings consisted of 3 to 6 feet of soft
to stiff sandy clay fill with occasional gravel, over 6 to 25½ feet of soft to stiff native
sandy clay. Weathered and/or comparatively competent sandstone bedrock was
encountered in three of the borings at depths of 9 to 22 feet to the depths explored.
Groundwater was measured at depths of 7 to 10 feet in all borings during drilling. When
checked several days later, groundwater was encountered at depths of 4½ to 7½ feet in
all borings. Further descriptions of the subsurface conditions encountered are presented
on Figure 2.
Soil and bedrock samples obtained during drilling were returned to our laboratory
and visually examined by our geotechnical engineer. Laboratory testing was assigned
and included moisture content, dry density, particle-size analysis and Atterberg limits.
Results of the laboratory tests are presented in Table I.
