COLORADO 80522 PHONE"1-2100 April 8, 1977 P.O.Box 1458 RECEIVED Mr. Dwight Bowers Colorado Division of Highways APR 14 1977 P.O. Box 850 Greeley, Colorado 80631 Dear Dwight: I • As a result of recent discussions among ourselves and with repre- sentatives of the Fort Collins Planning Department, we would like to make the following comments ents relative to the proposed Fort Collins Expressway: A. Further Analysis should be done and reconsideration i given concerning the location of an interchange on Highway 287 just west of Taft Hill Road. Would this interchange be more efficient if located where the expressway will intersect Taft Hill Road? B. The City Planning Department has indicated a desire and need for an additional interchange--at the intersec- tion of the expressway and Lindenmier Road. We concur with the City that an additional interchange at this location would be beneficial to the traffic flow in this area. C. We strongly urge you to consider the linking of the ex- pressway with the proposed Timberline Poad on the east side of Fort Collins. in this way we would have the beginnings of a by-pass route around the entire south- east, east, northeast, north, and northwestern portions of the city. As we understand it, present proposals call for Timberline Road connecting with Highway 14 .several hundred feet east of the express%,ay/?iighway 14 interchange. We suggest that the expressway and Tim- berline Read intersect Highway 14 at the same point. Thank you for your consideration of these comments. zc ere y, WILLIAM , County Engineer TIMM, County Planner LT:jes cc: File A
