STREET TREE NOTE LEGEND P F G D TREE RELOCATION NOTE January 29, 2025 Freddie Haberecht Forestry Specialist City of Fort Collins ISA Certified Arborist RM-8294A fhaberecht@fcgov.com Re: 4401 Innovation Drive - Existing Tree Analysis & Removal Feasibility Request Dear Freddie, This following letter is intended to supplement the Tree Analysis and Tree Mitigation Plan prepared for the 4401 Innovation Drive Pickleball Major Amendment & FDP Submittal. The Tree Mitigation Plan identifies existing on-site trees that will be Protected-in-Place or Removed and Mitigated On-site. The Tree Analysis and Mitigation Plan was completed under the direction of the City Forester and accurately identifies all on-site tree including their approximate locations, species, caliper size, trees protection or removal status and existing condition that was observed at the time of the Field Analysis which took place on December 20, 2024. As depicted in the Tree Analysis and Mitigation Plan there are a total of 42 existing trees located on-site and within close proximity to proposed property. In summary 25 of the 42 existing trees will be Preserved and Protected in Place. The remaining 17 existing trees that are identified on the Tree Analysis and Mitigation Plan as being removed are due to various site design constraints such as site grading, resurfacing and reconstruction of a proposed parking lot and private drives and the construction of the new outdoor pickleball courts. The City Forester has established the Mitigation Value of the 42 existing trees to be removed at 12 Mitigation Trees to be required. The applicant is proposing to provide 12 Mitigation Trees to be planted on-site in excess of the minimum number of trees required to meet the “Tree Stocking” requirements of the City’s of Fort Collins Land Use Code, Section 3.2.1. The 42 existing trees that are identified as “Trees to be Removed” are removed for the following broad scope reasons: A. Existing Trees on site are currently dead or dying and will be removed and Mitigated On- Site. B. Existing Trees on site conflict with the proposed site plan and are located where parking lot renovations and amenities are proposed to be constructed and will be removed and Mitigated On-site. C. Trees conflict with the proposed site plan and are located within the private drives, parking areas and/or the proposed pickleball courts and will be removed and Mitigated On-site. Summary of Trees to be Removed: Trees index number 34-42 shall be removed due to A above. Trees index number 17,18,21,22, and 25 shall be removed due to B above. Trees index number 28, 29, and 30 shall be removed due to C above. A more detailed description of each tree being protected or removed can be found in the Tree Analysis and Mitigation Plan included with this submittal. For those trees determined by the City Forester as providing significant community value, replacement mitigation trees will be planted within the private open space of the proposed development. Trees that will be removed and were determined by the City Forester to be dead or dying or are under the required Diameter at Brest Height (DBH) per Division 3.2.1(F)(2) of the City’s Lands Use Code are not required to be mitigated. We appreciate your thoughtful consideration of the proposed Tree Removal and Mitigation Plan and look forward to your favorable response. Sincerely, Ken Merritt, RLA, APA Director of Planning & Landscape Architecture JR Engineering
