Please give Ft. Collins a break and start thinking and planning with a
forward thrust. 0
Slow and backward planning by your predecessors is one of the reasons
traffic is
backed up all over town, Mulberry as well as other main east/west arteries
are in
worse shape than some country roads and in need of major repairs, polution
during
high traffic times is outrageous etc etc etc.
Give us up to date stores that meet our needs, with plenty of parking
without driving
half way to Loveland. Little old Greeley has had super stores for years
and we have
made the trip there on occasion rather than fight College Ave traffic. We
love Old
Town but again, parking is a nightmare. We want the dollars we spend to
stay in
Ft Collins, we like the prospect of added revenue, new jobs, and modern
stores.
You didn't have much trouble tossing elderly, low- income families, and
long time
residents out of their trailer park to make way for the construction of
shopping centers
at College and Harmony. Why all the fuss about Mulberry and Lemay? This
side of
town needs modern shopping areas just as much as the south-east does.

RE: SUPER WALMART DEVELOPMENT
Dear Sirs:
This letter is being provided on the behalf of Poudre Valley Health System by Hammes Company to
express the concern over the proposed development to be located at the intersection of Lemay Road
and Highway 14. We feel that the retail nature of this development could generate a significant
amount of vehicular traffic at this intersection,as well as the north and south on Lemay Road.
Our concern centers around the ability of emergency patients to access the Poudre Valley Hospital
Lemay Campus from Lemay Road and through this intersection. Further concern would be around the
ability of the patients using the south bound Lertay Road accessing the medical providers located in
and directly adjacent to the Hospital Campus.
We would hope that the committee and staff would take these concerns into consideration when
reviewing this development and it's impacts on our community.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
Sincerely,
HANINIES COMPANY

Subject: Mulberry-Lemay Regional Shopping Center
I am a long-time resident of the neighborhood west of the proposed
Mulberry-Lemay Regional Shopping Center. I will unfortunately be unable to
attend the planning session this evening (Nov. 5), so wish to take this
opportunity to express my opposition to such a large shopping center. This
area already is overtaxed with traffic--the addition of a big box Wal-Mart
is unthinkable. Further, the area is on a floodplain. Didn't we learn a
lesson about building on floodplains with the Spring Creek flood? (Acutally,
the lesson was that the city did a wonderful job of keeping most building
off the floodplain; the tragic loss of life from the exception to this plan
should keep us convinced of the wisdom of keeping building off floodplains.)
I hope you will turn down the plan for this poorly conceived shopping center.
Sincerely,
Jean O. Charney
