NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING JULY 25, 2016 `'� ��> _ _ _ . , - ���c DESIGN�ARCHITECTURE The proposed design utilizes the existing north and south building footprints and building forms to compose a new urban infill development that is a mix of the older elements with some new defining elements. The north and south building ends are highly visible and unique and provide the opportunity to create a new sense of entry into Old Town. A new addition is proposed at the south end of the southern building with the intention that it will be designed for a restaurant with outdoor patio seating. The concept is to bookend the north and south ends of the project with new identifying and iconic elements. These new facades are simple with striking modern glazed forms, and work in conjunction to define the corners while providing a transition to the existing building. The north end of the north building features a projected vertical element constructed within the existing footprint of the building. A series of new architecture types defined by material, glazing patterns and texture have been designed to continue the eclectic growth pattern of a series of buildings that have been constructed over time. It will be a dynamic, family-friendly space for the community to enjoy and will include food vendors, patios and entertainment spaces. The flexible food/retail spaces can support small, local businesses, while providing visitors with more casual, outdoor eating options. The name gives homage to the livestock exchange and creamery that once existed at this location, prior to being developed into differing businesses throughout the early 1900s. We would anticipate that a number of people already in the downtown area for work or play might make this a secondary destination-likely through walking or biking to the site. -Project is in the Transit Oriented Development Overlay Zone- which encourages transit supported, compact, and walkable infill redevelopment projects. -The city takes the parking situation downtown very seriously. There is currently at a 1,600 parking space deficit and the City and DDA are partnering to build a parking structure to try to lessen that deficit. The parking will have to be looked at very closely.
