HomeMy WebLinkAboutKING SOOPERS #146, MIDTOWN GARDENS MARKETPLACE (FORMERLY KMART REDEVELOPMENT ) - PDP - PDP160043 - CORRESPONDENCE - RESPONSE TO CITIZENChris and Meg:
Staff has met twice with King Soopers since their Prelimina.ry Design Review on May
4th. The purpose of these meetings was to review the staff comments and answer
questions in order to provide direction to the consulting firm as they plan for their Project
Development Plan submittal. At our last meeting, King Soopers informed us that they
were waiting for the results of a survey so they could start to assess the issues related
to laying out the site and not conflict with various easements and utilities. They
indicated that their next iteration of the site plan would take four to six weeks so we are
not expecting to hear back from them for about 2-3 weeks. King Soopers is aware of
the results of the Mid-town Plan and the opportunities available to develop a more
mixed-use project.
A supermarket is a permitted use in the C-G, General Commercial, zone district which
requires a neighborhood information meeting. As of today, this meeting has not been
set up.
The contact person at King Soopers is Mr. Joel Starbuck, division real estate manager,
303-778-3343. Joel.starbuck@kingsoopers.com
I can send you an e-mail at the time the neighborhood meeting is scheduled.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Thanks, Ted

Hey Clark
Has there been any movement on the Kroger project in the last couple of months?

Hi Lisa,
I got your name from the Administrative Hearings & Neighborhood Meetings page on the City website.
I'm looking for information on how residents can get involved in helping to shape the Kroger project
that's being planned for S: College where the Kmart is now. The project needs to be much more dense
than the plans that were shown in the newspaper, but I know from experience that plans in the paper
can be several iterations behind what'.s currently on the drawing board.
I've tried writing to the K"roger development rep in Colorado and haven't gotten any response. So I want
to make sure I don't miss out on any opportunities to give input through the City.
Is there a neighborhood meeting date set up yet? Are there any other means we could be making use of
to get involved in the conversation before they draw up a set of plans that they don't want to change?
Thanks for you help,
Meg Dunn
