HomeMy WebLinkAboutHARMONY MARKET PUD, SAM'S CLUB EXPANSION - MAJOR AMENDMENT - 54-87AH - CORRESPONDENCE - TRANSPORTATION ISSUE® Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. January 6, 2004 Mr. Eric Bracke, P.E.; PTOE City of Fort Collins 626 Linden Street PO Box 580 Fort Collins, CO 80522-0580 Re- Harmony Market P.U.D. Sam's Club Expansion Transit, Bicycle, and Pedestrian Analysis Dear Mr. Bracke: Suite 1050 950 Seventeenth Street Denver, Colorado 80202 Per comments received for the Harmony Market Sam's Club Expansion project, we have prepared this letter to address transit, bicycle, and pedestrian movements. Discussions pertaining to these are divided into the three categories as follows: Transit Harmony Market is not presently being directly served by a Transfort bus route as .shown on the attached all routes map. The developer has not received any information that this is expected to change in the near future. The nearest route to the Sam's Club is Route 1 which turns at the Harmony/JF.Parkway intersection without passing adjacent to the site. Bicycle Boardwalk Drive, Harmony Road, and Oak Ridge Drive all currently have bike routes adjacent to the existing Sam's Club. With renovation of the existing store, bike racks will be added in front of the store. Pedestrian There are existing" sidewalks constructed along all existing street frontages of the Sam's Club. In addition, a new sidewalk connection from the store to Boardwalk Drive and an enhanced sidewalk along the west side of the building to Oak Ridge Drive is being constructed with the project. Otherwise, the two existing north/south connections frorn Harmony Drive to the store, the sidewalk to Kohl's to the east, and the east/west sidewalk internal to the parking lot will all remain. Therefore, we feel these alternate modes of travel to and from the store will be adequately served in the future with acceptable levels of service. Please call me if you have any questions or require anything further. Sincerely, E KIMLEY-HOI N AND ASSOCIATES, INC. p°•p I ' .F O •. Off. Curtis D.
