to "Questions"
A call was recently received by Council Member Kneeland from a
citizen about a neighborhood meeting scheduled for Monday, October
18 to discuss a development proposal known as "Arapahoe Farm
Townhomes This proposal is for 76 townhome units and is located
north of Harmony Road and east of Seneca Street (west of South
Shields Street) .
The citizen, Steve Gottschalk, expressed concern that he received
his notice of the meeting one week before the meeting. Mr.
Gottschalk stated that he would be unable to attend due to prior
business travel plans. He asked that we cancel the meeting and
reschedule so he can attend. The project planner, Ted Shepard,
offered to meet with Mr. Gottschalk after the 18th, at his
convenience, to review the townhome plans, as well as discussion
from the neighborhood meeting on the 18th; however, this was
apparently unsatisfactory to Mr. Gottschalk.
Our policy is for notices to be received 7-10 days prior to the
neighborhood meeting. The notices were mailed October 8. There
are 120 property owners/residents on the mailing list. To date,
the other comments we have received relative to this meeting are
from citizens concerned that we scheduled a meeting during the
Broncos/Raiders football game. To my knowledge, we have had no
other requests than Mr. Gottschalk' s to reschedule and we would be
reluctant to do so, since we would be inconveniencing a large
number of people to reschedule.
Neighborhood meetings are being scheduled on Mondays (when we can
avoid Planning and Zoning Board meeting nights) , Wednesdays and
Thursdays. We have been avoiding Tuesday nights because of Council
meetings and worksessions and will continue to do so, unless
Council directs us otherwise.
