Ted, This issue has come up before, probably during the annexation but I don't remeber specificaly. This subdivision was developed many years ago, probabley well before the County had utility standards for fire protection (1981) . The water line is only 4" so it unlikely that it can meet the county standard of 500 gpm much less the city minimum of 1000 gpm. As you know the water supply standards we have now are tied to new buildings and/or new land divisions and is not retroactive. For this reason we do not have any way of compelling anyone to add fire hydrants or upgrade the water line unless the subdivision is expanded or new lots created. My recollection also is that the water district was not any help the last time this came up. This is not an isolated situation, w ave several like it in other areas of the city, including th mobile home park where we lost two kids in a fire several years ago. I looked at severalways to get fire hydrants into that area but since no one was willing to pay and I couldn't require it of anyone it wasn't doable. End of Item 3. Start of Item 4. Message.
